From the age of twenty-five, most women lose half a pound of muscle a year, which is replaced by body fat. Resista Exercise will regain muscle and stop wastage. Medical studies show that Menopause causes hormone imbalance resulting in increased undesirable cortisol levels. Amongst other effects, this results in weight gain, particularly around the mid-region. Because of the hormone imbalance in Menopause, many exercise types are counterproductive or damaging. Resista takes its name from “resistance exercise” which is proven to be beneficial for menopausal women. Livia has designed a range of exercise plans that are fun to join, flexible to follow and get results.

The Science behind Resista

Resista methodology causes muscles to contract against external resistance. Workouts utilise bands as well as your body weight to push or pull against gravity, increasing postural strength. A natural part of ageing after age 30 is the loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength, called Sarcopenia, which is more accelerated in women than men.

  • Resista exercise will regain muscle and stop wastage by encouraging the recruitment of muscle fibres leading to less body fat.
  • Resista exercise increases metabolism making it easier to sustain a slimmer figure in menopause and increases the body’s ability to burn more fat at rest.
  • Resista also increases blood flow to bones, keeping them healthy.
  • Resista exercises do not require expensive equipment or a gym and can be undertaken in a compact space at home or when travelling.
